Photo of the Week 2014-06-30

With a lens on loan from a friend and a little time to try it out before the start of a busy day with some visitors ...

trembling shadows
Sitting on the cottage deck, under one of my favourite trees, the dancing shadows from the leaves caught my eye.

There are some interesting wildflowers on "the Bruce". The "Indian Paintbrush" caught my eye last year and I was on the lookout this spring for their return ...

a collection of brushes
I found this collection of brushes in a large patch along the side of the road leading to the cottage and spend a while trying to capture the feel of the scene.

Photo of the Week 2014-06-16

I went almost two weeks without adding any new images to my library. Oh I've been busy enough with photography, printing and framing a number of images. I was able to print and deliver a couple of images to clients, then print and frame the first of my images to be displayed for sale at Ancient Cedars Cafe in Tobermory. Sean and Judy have been kind enough to offer up wall space in their dining room for local artists to display and I will have my work displayed there through the end of July.

I also need to continue adding to my library of images of "the Bruce" so I can keep my display at Upper Deck Mercantile Gallery fresh. So it was great to get out on Sunday morning and hit a few locations for some much needed capture time. The Yellow Lady Slippers are in full bloom on Northern Bruce Peninsula and I had been waiting for the opportunity to photograph them but this morning offered much more than just the Lady Slippers.

I got the day started at Dorcas Bay / Singing Sands, with some bracketed exposures across the fen towards the rising sun with an HDR in mind.

Photo of the Week 2014-06-09

... back from vacation and after a week of picking up the camera to shoot multiple times a day, I have mot made one single exposure in the last 7 days.

On the bright side, I have been printing like crazy in preparation for displaying some images at Ancient Cedars Cafe in Tobermory :-)

Here's an infrared image taken on vacation during a visit to Halfway Log Dump. I lke the surreal, high contrast look of IR.

Photo (set) of the Week 2014-06-02

I am fascinated by the Georgian Bay shoreline along the Bruce Peninsula. In particular, I love the colour of the water which ranges from clear through, teal, Caribbean blue, to deep dark blue as the depth increases moving away from shore.

A while back, I created a set (now album) of images on my flickr stream entitled "Georgian Blue" and now I have added a sub-set called "hues of blue" that will consist of a dozen images from a recent mid-day trek to Halfway Log Dump, Bruce Peninsula National Park.

Enjoy ...
