With fresh green springing everywhere around, I was encouraged to break out the EOS M  converted for infrared photography and venture into the ethereal ...

afternoon trillium patch
Every spring the trillium of Victoria Woods bloom in a magnificent patch extending on either side of the trail. There are Red Trillium sprinkled amongst the mostly white Provincial flower of Ontario.

This is a favoured location to enjoy and celebrate the true arrival of spring.

Pink Blue Green

Spring is the time for many flowering plants and trees to begin showing their true colours. The Cherry Blossoms in particular are a wonderful sight after mother nature has shed the drab cloak of winter's end to reveal her emerging beauty.

Toronto's High Park had been a previous destination
at this time of year but it is getting absolutely ridiculous with the hordes of people who now visit.  So I was very pleased to learn from my wife that the Royal Botanical Gardens in Burlington have a number of flowering cherry trees in their Arboretum. We decided to make it our destination on a sunny bright spring day.

I am by no means a horticulturist but found a few of what I believe were very mature trees that have obviously been well cared for and pruned by RBG staff over the years. The large, stocky, mature trunks with younger branches reaching outward and upward to show off their blossoms made for very interesting photographic subjects.

spring trails
Combining three of my favourite things ... family, nature and photography. My son Jordan and I hiked a section of the Bruce Trail from Clappison's Corners to Sydenham Lookout and back.

It started out misty and changed to light rain then cleared up on the way back, this shot was made shortly after we started while there was some sun trying to break thorough the mist. The wet mud slopes below the escarpment were slick but there were no incidents of note, just a great few hours.
