It's almost time for me to place my print order for 2023 calendars ... I do a limited run mostly for family and friends who have expressed interest over the years or those who I gift them to for Christmas / New Year.

I had a difficult time selecting the images this year, for whatever reason. But it's done now and this week's image is a tych-collage of the pages as I have them prepared to upload to the printing service.

All of the images this year were made on the Bruce Peninsula during 2021. As is my custom, each image was made during the month* that it represents in the calendar ( * with perhaps some minor exceptions).

I've not found it worth while to take orders and deal with the logistics of payment and delivery but I will order a handful of "extras" should anyone be insistent that they purchase one. Contact me via email (address in 'About Me') and I will quote price and delivery if practical.

Here's to another year of imagery from my 'Photographic Journey'

Well ... after considerable deliberation over price increases from the print house I use for my calendars, I've decided to go ahead with a smaller order this year, for the 10th Edition of 'Through the Seasons'

I started publishing a calendar 10 years ago. The original intent was to have a project that would focus my attention on review and selection of past images, requiring me to be critical of my own work. Additionally it provided another way to showcase for my images and make them available for purchase in small quantities. Continuing on over time it evolved into a gift we gave members of the family at Christmas, with sales to a few friends and clients here and there.

I have one copy of each edition tucked away for posterity and of course I have the source images, some of which have been printed and framed for the house or cottage.

In this, the year of COVID, we will not be getting together with the extended family for Christmas celebrations and with printing price increases I've decided to cut back on the number of calendars ordered. Mailing a calendar out to those we won't see in person just added more to the cost and the logistics of making socially distanced visits to drop them off didn't make sense either given it would require us to enter COVID red-zones.

But there will be a '2021 Through the Seasons' calendar, they will just be more ... 'exclusive'.

2020 Through The Seasons Wall Calendar - Limited Availability

This is the 9th year for my "Through the Seasons" calendar project. Started as a Christmas gift project for immediate family members, distribution has grown a bit over the years as more family and some clients have requested copies. This year I've decided to pre-order a few copies and offer them for sale.

"Through the Seasons" showcases a dozen of my images from a single year, each made during the month in which they are displayed. Images may or may not have been previously published in this blog, Facebook, or other social media.

Satin finish calendar pages are 8.5" x 11", wire bound and the calendar opens to hang at approx 17" h x 11" w. Pages can be removed and framed for display ... once you've had the use of the calendar for a year of course ;-) As always, single Fine Art prints are available by contacting me directly for a quote.

They are available to the first 10 customers for $25 + $5 postage via Canada Post, CDN funds, shipping to Canada only. To place an order and arrange payment, email me at djenglandphotography@gmail.com. I'll be placing a second order that should arrive just before Christmas if there are more takers.

Here is a collage of the images included ...

Well it's that time of year again ... The image selections are made, they have been prepared and uploaded for printing of my annual 'Through the Seasons' calendar.

For several years now, I've published a calendar of images made during a prior calendar year, selecting one from each of the months they represent in the calendar. At first, just a few were printed, growing to around a dozen so I would have some to give away as family Christmas gifts. Eventually I ordered more to have some that I could sell here and there. This year`s order of only 25 is over half spoken for by family and one client.

Here is a collage of the 2018 version.

First I used Black's (now defunct) online service to publish and print, moving to a service in France for one year (didn't like the European paper sizing) and for the last couple of years, Vistaprint has been the choice.

Selecting the image is always a trip down memory lane. Even though the images have been from that latest full year past, as I look through the catalogue, I`m reminded of so may good times and even find some "gems in the rough" to work on later. Many images are not suitable for selection because of the horizontal format I select for the finished product and every year I think of switching to vertical orientation ... but again, not this year.

For the Vistaprint service, I prepare each processed image and size it in preparation for addition of a custom coloured border-background. I then add my signature template and copyright notice, title the image with location it was made. The addition of location was a request made by several who have had the calendar in the past. The process is the same for each image so I created a Photoshop action to take care of the repetition, though each year I tweak things a bit.

Final Note: Last year, I made the mistake of not proofing all of the calendars as soon as I received them and there was a problem with streaking on some images, but I'm gonna give Vistaprint another go, keep my fingers crossed and check them thoroughly when they arrive..
