What better way to spend the last week of May on vacation than at the cottage ... even if if did rain at some point on several days.
Sunday was a rain day so we took a drive for fries and butter tarts.
Monday it looked like rain early in the morning so I assembled the charcoal grill / smoker.
Thursday it rained so we decided to started painting the 3rd bedroom.
Friday it rained early in the morning so we finished painting the 3rd bedroom ... but then the sun came out for a glorious sunset :-)

What's a little rain when you get to see sunsets like this?

enchanted pond

Spring, morning, sun, birdsong, cool breeze blowing and a relaxing hike along a local trail.

I've photographed in similar conditions along this trail a number of times, but this time I decided to photograph in IR and explore what I could extract with some post processing later.

Perhaps it's not everyone's cup of tea, but I like it and  ... it sure was nice to get out and scratch the creative itch.

After 36 hours of non stop rain, with more of the same in the forecast over the weekend, I was looking forward to a change of venue, some quite time at the cottage with a book and a hot beverage ...

... so I was surprised when a dry road and no sign of rain earlier in the day greeted us on the highway just north of Wiarton. A few kilometres later there was hint of sunlight breaking through in a think band along the western horizon.

We turned into the cottage driveway just as sun was setting. I hurried down to the shore to grab a few quick images before I missed what might be the only sun I'd see for a few more days. But there was more ...

Saturday evening, another wondrous sunset, and such intensity !

Intensity
The colours were so intense in the immediate sky around the sun, I decided to zoom in as much as possible to isolate that section of the sky.

repatriation
With spring's arrival here in Southern Ontario, it seems to have taken a while for the trees to begin leafing out ... a time I have anxiously been waiting for so I could get out with my Infrared (IR) converted M3 to make some B&W IR images.

Infrared BW brings out the fresh green of new growth, giving an ethereal feel not easily simulated in post processing.

Before heading to Einsteins Café to remove my prints from the GPG installation (March-April '17), I headed over to Victoria Woods where a spring morning walk is always a great way to start the day ... with cameras of course ;-)

The Trilliums were not quite out fully and Trout Lillies were plentiful but also not fully in bloom ... perhaps a wander before work in the coming week .... Ahhhhh
