I guess my 'disappointment' with weather upon arriving at Coldwater Cove was unfounded because I managed to come away with some decent captures. Perhaps because conditions were not what I had envisioned, I had to put more effort into finding and making images there that day. In doing so, I realized that I had to switch off auto, me not the camera, and open up to what the location was offering.

Since last weeks post, I've managed to publish another 8 images from Coldwater to my social media steams and in addition there is this trio ...

' Turtle Rock III '

' Turtle Rock II '

' Turtle Rock I '

... from some time I spend shooting an interesting rock formation that I've named 'Turtle Rock' owing to it's resemblance of a turtle's back as it submerges below the water surface.

I'm sure not everyone will agree with me but hey, beauty is in the eye of the ... in this case photographer.

' blowin' smoke '

After a full day of work on the waterside shed, I 5took some time to relax and take in this gorgeous sunset. Over the course of almost an hour, 30 min before official sunset to almost 30 minutes after, I moved around the shoreline for different compositions making a number of exposures.

Sometimes it's not until after making the exposure and looking at it on a larger screen, that I see images in the clouds ... I see the profile of a man with smoke coming out of his mouth ;-)

Have you ever felt like you're being watched ?

I make time for a little whimsy in my photography now and then, and on a recent outing I captured these faces of our 'friends in the forest'.

Some of us see things like this all the time. Others struggle to understand what we try to describe as we point into the sky, the clouds, a rock formation. The experience is known as Pareidolia.

Me, I regularly identify faces and figures in the fabric of nature ... and sometimes I stop to photograph them.

' Huron Sunsets are Just Ducky '

There's often an additional little something in the clouds ...

Seeing faces, animals and familiar shapes in the clods is a form of pareidolia, and something that frequently occurs with me. Those following this blog will know that I frequently photograph sunset and the skies over Lake Huron. During my most recent visits to our northern retreat, things did not change.

The October skies over the Bruce Peninsula and Lake Huron are often very dramatic. Approaching weather phenomenon, storm fronts, cloud formation and clear blue sky make a wide variety for the atmosphere and appearance of the images I capture. So far this month (October 2021) has done it's best to stir my desire to pick up the camera and catch what I see through the lens.
